In the history museum at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, Expedition 40/41 backup crew members Anton Shkaplerov of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos, center) and Samantha Cristoforetti of the European Space Agency (right) learn about the now-defunct Russian Buran space shuttle during a tour of the facility May 17. Shkaplerov, Cristoforetti and Terry Virts of NASA are backing up the prime crew, Flight Engineer Alexander Gerst of the European Space Agency, Soyuz Commander Maxim Suraev of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) and NASA Flight Engineer Reid Wiseman, who are scheduled to launch from Baikonur on May 29, Kazakh time, for a 5 ½ month mission on the International Space Station.
