Astronaut Stephen K. Robinson, mission specialist, operates the controls for the Remote Manipulator System (RMS) on the aft flight deck of the Space Shuttle Discovery. The Canadian-built RMS arm, used throughout the flight in operations with the Cryogenic Infrared Spectrometers and telescopes for the Atmosphere-Shuttle Pallet Satellite-2 (CRISTA-SPAS-2), is partially visible through the window. On Robinson's left arm is a band used in conjuction with a Detailed Supplementary Objective (DSO), in which various astronauts are participating in an ongoing program.
