Astronaut James S. Voss, STS-101 mission specialist, prepares to leave Houston's Ellington Field aboard a T-38 jet trainer. Voss and his crew mates were headed to the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) to take part in Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test (TCDT) activities that include emergency egress training and a dress rehearsal for launch. Voss, with five other astronauts and a cosmonaut representing the Russian Aviation and Space Agency, comprise the crew for the third assembly flight for the International Space Station.
