Flying five miles a second above the Ukraine, astronaut James D. Halsell, Jr., mission commander, operates controls on the aft flight deck to gently pull the Space Shuttle Atlantis into port, flawlessly latching his 100-ton spacecraft to the 35-ton International Space Station (ISS) for a five-day stay. Halsell and his crew performed the rendezvous and docking with the station by the book, docking on target just before the end of the day May 20 CDT.
