At the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, a Soyuz booster launches on October 30, 2011 carrying the unmanned Russian ISS Progress 45 cargo craft to orbit for the start of a three-day trip to the International Space Station. The resupply craft, that is scheduled to dock on November 2, is carrying 2.9 tons of food, fuel and supplies for the residents of the station. It was the first launch of the Soyuz booster from Baikonur since a third-stage failure on August 24 resulted in the loss of the previous Progress cargo vehicle, the ISS Progress 44.
