At the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City, Russia, NASA astronaut Chris Cassidy waves to well-wishers March 24 as he departs with his crewmates for their launch site at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Cassidy and Anatoly Ivanishin and Ivan Vagner of Roscosmos will launch April 9 on the Soyuz MS-16 spacecraft from the Baikonur Cosmodrome for a six-and-a-half month mission on the International Space Station.
