Astronauts L. Gordon Cooper and John H. Glenn discuss the helmet and gloves Cooper will be wearing during his MA-9 mission. The helmet consists of a resinous, impregnated fiberglass hard shell; an individually molded crushable impact liner; a ventelation exhaust outlet; a vison sealing system; and a communication system. The gloves attach to the suit torso at the lower forearm by means of a detent ball-bearing lock. The gloves have been specially developed for Project Mercury to provide the maximum in comfort and mobility.
